Our next stop was Cozumel, Mexico. I was the Debbie Downer this vacation. Because I'm pregnant I wasn't allowed to do any of the cool excursions, so we didn't really get to see much of Cozumel. It was so hot, and I would get so tired so easily that we decided to head back to the ship and spent most of the day at the pool.
The next day was the day at sea and Sam and I spend most of the time working out and trying to find somewhere to lay out. The pool was PACKED!
All in all the cruise was pretty chill, and we literally only did the things we wanted to do. We ordered a lot of room services, worked out, and ate a lot of frozen yogurt and fruit. We were happy to get back to Miami and dry land. We had another day in Miami when we got off the boat, and spent most of that by the pool at our hotel.
We both realized that we are not big cruise fans, and probably would have enjoyed going just to Key West or just to Cozumel and staying at a resort there. Notes for next time.
After we spent a day in Miami, we flew up to NYC and met my sisters. I was SO excited for Sam to see New York. I feel like part of my heart is in that city, and was excited for him to experience it. We literally gave him the condensed version of a city tour. We ate a Shake Shack the headed over to Central Park. On our way to the park we stopped at Rockefeller Plaza and the amazing church across from there. Can you believe they were already ice skating in the plaza? We headed up 5th Ave so Sam could see all the windows, and then to the park. Central Park was AMAZING with all the leaves changing, it was gorgeous. After walking around the park for a while we headed over to Dylan's Candy Bar. We walked around the Upper East Side and showed Sam all the cool things up there. Then we got on the air shuttle thing and headed over to Govern's Island. It was cool to walk around and see the city from that side. After that we headed over to Grand Central to show Sam how cool it is. Then we headed back over to the city and to our hotel to get ready for dinner. For dinner we met up with my cousin Matt, who lives in Manhattan. He took us to the Indian Restaurant. I was a little worried about it, but he did all the ordered and it was actually REALLY good. Sam LOVED it. The restaurant was on the upper west side so we walked around a bit up there before we headed back to our hotel. We stay on the lower west side, and literally across the street from Ground Zero. We had the most AMAZING view of memorial site.
The next day we headed back up to the upper west side to get our favorite cookies from Levains Bakery. We stopped at Papaya's and got some hot dogs for brunch. We showed Sam the temple and how different it is over there. Then we headed back down to the lower west side and showed Sam Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty. By that time we had to start heading to the airport, so we hoped in a cab and off to the air port. It was a pretty quick trip, but I think he saw most all the major spots people want to see when they go there. I absolutely LOVED New York in the fall and can't wait to go back again around this same time.
On our flight home Mike Tyson was on our flight, that was pretty crazy! Once we got to Las Vegas and to the car, we realized that we had a FLAT TIRE! Bummer. Luckily we have this car lifesaver thing my parents gave us a few years ago and we were able to pump it up and get home. Blessing.
All in all we had pretty fun trip. It was fun to get away for a little while and to see new things. I am so glad Sam got to go to New York and see how incredible it is there. I am glad we got to spend a few days relaxing and doing exactly what we wanted to do, and I am also really glad to be home! Nothing like sleeping in your own bed!
I am happy to report that Sam is not turned off to the idea of traveling again, and even started talking about where we want to go with our baby! Amazing! I am voting for Hawaii! Cross your fingers!
