Salt Lake {July 21, 2013)

Hayes is constantly changing and is just getting to be so much fun. He is such a talker and ALWAYS has something to say. Its pretty funny. We took him on his first trip to SLC this past weekend and he did pretty good. He HATES shopping and made that pretty clear in the middle of Nordstroms. Hahaha I took him in the bathroom (they have a GREAT mother's lounge there) to try and feed him,  I laid him down on the hard changing table to get situated and he fell right to sleep. Unfortunately, his nap was short lived. His screaming didn't stop me from getting him SO many good things though. Damn you Baby Gap and your sales! I got him the cutest jeans with suspenders at H&M too. I feel like once he can fit into them, we will need to take some family pictures. Shopping made me realize I want to try and sew some clothes for him. There were so many things I loved that I just looked at and said "I could TOTALLY sew this!" So, I ordered some super cute fabric online and I am going to try and sew some shorts, pants, and beanies. Wish me luck.

Besides the shopping issue, he was a dream. I think he was just over being in his stroller or held all day. Once we let him kick around, he was much happier. What a funny boy he is. Sam went and rode at his comp and did great! I hope next year we can go to more comps and take Hayes. Hopefully by then it will be fun for everyone. I went to IKEA and spent way too much money, but that's a given. I am starting to get some ideas going to turn one of our extra rooms into a play room. I am so excited to get started on it. I also have ideas for our kitchen and master. So, my IKEA trip did have some purpose and I got a bunch of things for it. I also think I know what else I need to get for it, so it was helpful to go there and make some decisions. I'll post some pictures of the play room project when it gets under way.

I finally got some more done on the little mister's room. The problem with me doing more decorating, is that it makes me want to change more and add more to my whole house. I thought I got everything I wanted done for Hayes' room, but once I got started working on it again, I decided I still have so much to do. So, since my life is a constant work in progress, here it is so far.

I still want to get a book shelf of some kind to go under the collage wall;
I want to get some big baskets for storage in the closet;
and I want to make a chevron quilt for his bed...  hopefully that's it.

4th of July

We love to go up to the cabin on the 4th of July. This was Hayes' first trip to the cabin and he did so good! This was also the first time Rob and Syd have been there too!

Before we went to the cabin Ash and I went to the park in town. I had never been to the St. George park for the fourth. It was a lot of fun and I am sure Hayes will love to go when he gets bigger.

Sometimes I dress me and Hayes the same... and I love it!

3 Months {July 13, 2013}

Our sweet little Hayes is just growing like a weed! We are so in love with him it is just crazy. He is such a talker and has been for more than a month now. Everyone we talk to thinks its crazy how many noises he makes for how young he is. We always find ourselves saying to each other "He is SO LOUD!" " Oh my goodness, is he yelling at us??" Its pretty funny to have such a little guy make such loud noises. His voice is really sweet though, except when he's mad. He also has a REALLY high pitched scream, like higher than any girl I have ever heard. I think its absolutely hilarious, unless we're at my office and I am trying to talk to a client. I love being able to bring him to work with me, although it is harder than I thought it would be. I constantly feel torn between taking care of him and taking care of my work duties, and honestly sometimes one or the other has to suffer to be able to meet the demands of the other. My goal is always to make sure that its not Hayes that is suffering though, but then I feel guilty for letting my work suffer. Working mama problems, for sure.

Hayes is so animated. He gets SO HAPPY and has a little giggle that could drop me to my knees. Our law clerk joked that he is so animated he should be a cartoon. He is so fun and bubbly, I hope that he always stays so happy and fun. He loves when you talk to him, and especially loves to hear his name. He gets so excited when I call him Hayes Weldin. Its so sweet. He loves to talk to Ash, and it we joke that he tells Ash all the things that are wrong with him. He has a little whine and seems to use it a lot when he talks to her. I told Ash I don't mind if he always comes to her with what's wrong, but she better always tell me what he says :)

He eats ALOT, and I think nursing is his favorite pastime. We are both getting much better at nursing. I really enjoy that time I have with him.

He loves to play on his baby gym and in his little bouncer chair. He still hates his swing.

When Sam puts him to bed at night he sleeps like a champion, when I do, he sleeps horribly. So, the new rule at our house is that Dad does bedtime. He is getting much better though when I put him to bed and has slept between 6 and a half and 7 and a half hours for the past couple of weeks.

He is really starting to love his baths. He isn't quite sure about kicking in the water yet, but is happy and smiling when he's in there. I hope he loves the water.

His favorite story is still the Very Hunger Caterpillar.

He is wearing 3-6 mths clothes, and some of his 3mth clothes are too small.

He weighed almost 13 pounds and is 22 inches long at his last drs appt. He is really short :)

I am still his favorite :) and I hope that lasts forever!

He has pretty light skin and I feel bad if he really did end up getting my pale skin, poor kid.

He had his first blow out, and seemed incredibly proud of himself after.

He has a dimple on his left cheek when smiles. I love it so much and sometimes I try to make him smile just so I can see it.

3 Months

Dear Hayesie:

I realized I wrote you a letter every week when I was pregnant with you, and thought it would be fun to keep writing to you now that you're here.

You are so much fun and bring so much joy to my life. I love to hold you and smell your sweet baby smell. At night you will let me just cuddle you and soak in your sweetness. I love to hold you and snuggle you when you're in your jammies and just woken up. There is something so special about that time in the morning.

You talk to me all the time and have some much to say. I wish I knew what you were saying, because you make it sound very important. You are so happy and you have the sweetest smile. When you get really excited you stick your tongue out and scrunch your shoulders up. It literally melts my heart.

You are developing so fast, and you don't seem like you want to be held back at all. You can reach for toys and respond to noise and faces. You love this little red bird that plays music, and you love to look in the mirror. Your most favorite thing is when people will talk to you and tell you how cute you are. You especially love when I tell you how handsome you are.  You constantly amaze me and I love how smart you are.

Your cousins and aunts and uncles are just all so in love with you. Jentrie and Stock ALWAYS want to hold you. You are so sweet and just talk to them when you they do. You and Ash are good friends, and she comes and gets you from my work sometimes to hang out. You love your grandmas and grandpas quite a bit, and you seem to be able to recognize them. I am so glad you are surrounded by so much love.

My role as your mama is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It makes me feel like my life has so much purpose. I feel so protective as my role as your mama. I love everything that it brings. Your dad jokes that you are much calmer and happier when you can see me. That makes me the happiest when he says that, and I feel much happier when I can see you too! You make my life so much better and brighter. I love you forever!

Love,
Your Mama

5 Years {June 28, 2013}

We celebrated 5 years of marriage this year. I can't really believe its been that long, but then again our wedding day seems like a lifetime ago. I am so grateful for our marriage and for all we've accomplished. We bought a house, got a sweet dog, bought a car, and now we have the sweetest little boy on the planet. Success if you ask me. I look forward  to many more years with this guy! Love you forever Sam!

To celebrate our anniversary we started out the day going to breakfast at Kneaders, and it was delish! Then we loaded up our crew and headed up to Pine Valley to get out of the crazy heat wave we've been having. We walked around and enjoyed ourselves. I am fairly positive Gator enjoyed himself the most out of anyone though. Hayes slept the whole time. While we were up there Sam ended up getting his first speeding ticket in 8 years! We honestly weren't even really going fast, it was pretty lame. It was still fun to head up there and explore.

So, CHEERS TO FIVE YEARS!
