Update on my Hayesie Boy

Here is what Hayes has been up to lately:

1- The way he runs- he has the BEST run ever. He his really bouncy and full of energy and his run is the epitome of who he is.

2- All of the words he say, my most favorite right now are "Kacee" "Crazy" Ketchup" and "Gator"

3- He loves to go walking and has started wanting me to let him out to run on his own.

4- He love treats!

5- He is sleeping really well in his own bed and I love that he loves to be so grown up.

6- He likes to eat up to the counter on the stools, and gets kind of offended when I make him sit in his highchair.

7- He responses really well to time-outs, I'm hoping their working.

8- He is turning into more of a picky eater.

9- He loves the water. He asks to go to "Ashie's" all the time. We drove on the parkway by her house and he was freaking out and point towards her house and yelling "Ashie Ashie! Water water!"

10- He's not that interested in babies or kids smaller than him, he does however, love the older kids.

11- I can't decide if he is a mama's boy, or a daddy's boy. He likes us both, just at different times.

12- His smile is the sweetest thing in this world.

13- He's very independent.

14- He's started coloring on walls.

15- He can count to 5, but rarely does it on command.

16- He's started to say "Later" instead of "Bye"

17- He still gets upset if Sam takes his hat off, he will instantly grab it and make sure he puts it back on.

18- He knows when I put my work out clothes on that means we're going for a walk- he gets VERY upset if I try to go to the gym instead.

19- He still gets upset when people make messes on TV.

20- He throws things, and throws his body around when he's upset.

21- He throws A LOT of temper tantrums

22- Even with all the tantrum throwing, I still think he's the sweetest boy.

23- He doesn't like when people cry ( Or babies, he told Sebastian to "Stop it" when he was crying)

24- He usually asks for "Croods" and a "treat" when he first wakes up in the morning.

25- He likes to pinch and can even pinch with his toes

26- Any time he gets to do something he usually can't or isn't suppose to he yells "Yay!!" For example, when he climbed out of his crib he yelled "Yay" that's how we knew he got out.

27- He still likes books, but struggles to be read to right now. He mostly wants to look through them himself.

28- He knows every character on Curious George, and when the opening song comes on, he will yell their names. "Squirrel" "Duck" "Charkie" "Hundley" "George" and he LOVES when he sees the kite, he will yell really loud "Kite Kite!!!"

29- He calls grandmas "Grandpies", I think he's meaning "Grammy", but when he says "Grandpa" its distinctly different.

30- He loves lemonade- especially with ice.

31- He calls Ice Cream "Ice Ice". We have a book about trucks and he only wants to find the page about the "Ice Cream Truck"

32- He spits out the peel of the apple in little tiny pieces, but he still wants you to give him a whole apple to eat.

33- He loves to play with my lipsticks.

34- Whenever he finds one of my bras, he wears it around his neck like a necklace.

35- He takes  his shoes and socks off every time he gets in the car.

I need to do this more often because I know there are funny/cute/adorable/silly/amazing things that he does that I will want to remember. It seems like every day he does something new or funny. I know I always write this, but it's just because it's so true, but I love that kid more than anything ever and I feel eternally grateful to be his mama. Being a mom, and not just any mom, but Hayes's mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me, ever.

Memory Lane

I have been going through and saving and backing up all of my videos of Hayes, starting from when he was a newborn through just recently. It's crazy to look back and realize how much he has changed and grown up.

the days are long, but the years are short.

I saw this quote and it fit so perfectly. Looking back that time seemed like so long ago, and like yesterday all at the same time.

I realized looking back just how well Hayes is talking now and how many more words he knows now than even just a few month ago. I realized that his short hair makes him look WAY older than when he has long shaggy hair. I realized he has always been so active and has always had a lot to say. I realized that I can see him even when he was super tiny. I realized that every day that's gone by I love that kid more and more.

Costco errands

Sam got his birthday present a little early this year in the form of a new TV, and my goodness was he excited. Hayes thought it was the best thing since he discovered a slide and I had two very happy boys at home. Success if you ask me!

Sick days

We had a good two weeks there that Hayes was not feeling good. He didn't consistently have a fever, it was more on and off. He had a cough and a runny nose and was really irritable. It was rough and so sad to see him feel so terrible. I am glad that he finally feeling better, he is way more fun when he feels good.

Temple

The other day I met up with my mom and Ash and walked around the temple. It was the most beautiful day, and I couldn't help but snap a few pictures of it. I never get sick of walking around this place. It seems like every season brings a different kind of beautiful.

Toys

Lately, after we finish breakfast Hayes has been asking to play with "toys toys!" Him and Gator have been fighting over this little rubber ducky lately, and it can get pretty heated. These two are funny.

Popsicles with my love

The other night after I got home from the gym and thought a fudge pop sounded so yummy. Hayes took one look at what I had and decided that he needed in on that. So, we took up a seat on the floor and shared it. He was so funny and kept trying to pinch of pieces of the popsicle. hahaha that kid is so much fun!

Big boy room

Like I mentioned in my last post, Hayes started climbing out of his crib and we ended up with two brutal weeks of sleeping. After we decided that we needed to start sleeping again, we decided to upgrade him to a big boy bed. Man! I'm glad we did! He has done really well so far, knock on wood. I love how grown up his room looks and I think he really loves it too!

Sleeping

Hayes started climbing out of his crib and ended up in our bed pretty much every night for two solid weeks. It was brutal. But, at least if he is going to steal my spot in bed, at least he looked adorable doing it!

More park time

Yup, more park time. Hayes just looked WAY too cute not to snap a few pics! I just love this cutie to pieces!

Park time again

We have kind of had a park hiatus lately. We went through a phase where we parked it up everyday, and then a few months that we didn't go at all. We have now made it full circle, and we are back to the every day park time. Hayes obviously never gets tired of park time. We have also started going to splash pads and you would think Hayes had died and gone to heaven. A park and water in one?? WHAT?? I think we are going to have a great summer!

I scream you scream

Hayes and I shared an ice cream bar after dinner at my mom's house. Hayes calls ice cream "ice ice" and it only took a few minutes before that ice cream bar was his. This kid has such a sweet tooth.

Dads are fun

We went and played at my parent's house a few days ago and as we all know Hayes LOVES to play in their backyard. This time, Hayes was thrilled to have Sam there to play with him. I love watching these two play together. It really is something that I wish every little boy had, I know that Sam and Hayes are so lucky to have each other. I am looking forward to so many more days and years of watching these two play and teach each other.

Watermelon

Hayes has been loving watermelon lately. I wish I could describe how he says "Watermelon" but it is so funny. It sounds a lot like water, but you can tell that something is different. This fruit loving kid has yet to find a fruit he didn't love.

Happy Birthday Sam!

This year we celebrated Sam's 30th birthday! Sam wanted a new TV and to go on a date. Unfortunately, Hayes got sick so we couldn't end up going on a date, but we ended up having an impromptu party. We sure love this Dad and husband and we are so glad he was born! Happy Birthday Salmon!

Hayes Lately

I can't believe how much Hayes is growing up. He just seems to learn or do something new every single day. I couldn't even begin to list all of the words that he knows now, but some of my favorites are:

"Watermelon"- he says it more like "Whataaaha" but it does sound distinctly different than when he just says "Water"
"Gator" - Gator is VERY clear now and he will say "Stay Gator" or "No no Gator" or "Go Gator" he doesn't like when Gator runs off or gets too wild and will try to yell at him or calm him down.
"Kacee!!" - Oh my goodness he just started saying this and it is the funniest thing ever! He usually yells "Kacee Kacee Towel Towel" - I'm sure you can guess where he's heard that.
"Towel" is another funny one- its very enunciated like Tao-LL!
"Outside and Inside"- He is very clear about where he wants to be
"BYE"- He YELLS bye when we leave somewhere and will yell it over and over and over again. The other funny thing he does is yells "Bye Gator" to everyone. I think because I always tell him to say bye to Gator when we leave.
"Grandma" he calls both of his grandmas "Grandpees" you would think it was more like Grandpa, but Grandpa is pretty dang clear, I think he's trying to say "Grammy" its really funny.
"Stroller" he calls it a "Trolla" and I seriously can't say no.

Hayes has always been a pretty good eater, but lately he hasn't been at all. I think its from being sick back to back there. But he LOVES watermelon right now. He has always loved all kinds of fruit. He has been drinking more milk lately too, I can't tell if it's because I offer it more or if I am offering it more because he's actually drinking it. His all time favorite is still mac and cheese. He also loves pizza, meat balls, beans, rice, peas, chicken, and grape juice. He LOVES candy, popcorn, and chocolate.

He is growing like a weed. I have officially had to store anything smaller than a 3T. He's not quite big enough for 4T yet. He is wearing about a 7-7.5 shoe, but it's different for every brand. I bought a bunch of winter clothes in 4T and I was worried about the size, but I think they will totally fit him by Fall/Winter time, which seems SO crazy!

When he went to his 2 year old check up he was SO wild, it was awful. The nurse made me feel better though and said that this was a pretty typical two year old check up. He can get so crazy and throws the most epic tantrums, its amazing really. Just before we went to his check up he woke up from a nap, he woke up crying, which is never a good sign. This wake up was particularly crazy though. He was HYSTERICAL!! I have never seen him act like that. He literally could not get control of himself. He almost seemed possessed (is that bad to say?) It scared me so bad. I was no lie crying my eyes out I was so scared. I literally thought he was having a seizure. I scooped him up, kicking and screaming and scratching and yelling and throwing his arms around and fought him into his carseat. I figured that the best place to take him was to the doctor, and we needed to get him to his appointment anyways. When we got there he had started to calm down. I fully thought he was having a major issue and half way thought we may end up spending some time at the hospital, it was that crazy. After we got back to see the doctor and had our normal talk, I told him about what had happened. At this point, Hayes was acting WAY more normal and didn't show any signs of that madness that we had just witnesses, I on the other hand looked like I had seen a ghost and got in a fight all at the same time. I was a hot mess. The doctor did not seem worried AT ALL. He talked to me about a few different scenarios, all of which were normal two year old things. I was SHOCKED, relieved, but shocked. I just couldn't comprehend that my sweet Hayesie was consciously capable of  throwing a fit of that proportion and not have something be wrong. It was relieving, but I still feel like I am walking on egg shells waiting for another one of "those" ones to strike again. I just pray it doesn't happen in Target. that's my safe space, you know?

Aside from the wild tantrums, Hayes is also very sweet. He comes running up and hugs me every time I pick him up from Grandma's house. Once I get there, he turns to them and says "BYE BYE!" He knows it's time to go home, and I LOVE that he wants to. He loves to read books, play with play dough, and he is liking coloring more. He LOVES to throw balls and to play outside. His new favorite thing is to have the bubble machine blowing out back while he plays, it's like he knows it sets the perfect mood of what childhood should be. He is still obsessed with balloons and sidewalk chalk. He asks to go for a walk in his "trolla" all the time. He loves water. The other day he found his life jacket and took it to Sam. He asked him to put it on him and then when it was on yelled "Water Water!" Sam's dad heart literally burst. He's also really sweet at giving kisses and hugs.

Lately, Hayes has struggled more to sleep all the way through the night. Sometimes he can, but a lot of times he wakes up at least once in the night and needs to be consoled. I am really hoping this is just a phase, because man, it's exhausting.

All in all, this Hayesie Boy of ours is one in a million. We love him more than I could ever put into words. He literally makes life worth living. I am so lucky to be his mama, and I thank my Heavenly Father daily for sending him to me. Being a mama is the best thing in the whole world, and being Hayesie's mama is just that much better. I love watching him grow and learn and I can hardly wait to see what new things he'll learn and who we will grow up to become. Being a parent is something else I tell ya.

Our record player

Hayes loves to play with the record player. He loves all the buttons and that when he pushes them it makes sound. (It has a radio too). He loves to turn it on and off and on and off. He could do it for hours. I love the sound it makes and I let him play with, probably more than I should. It's just too fun, I can see why he loves it so much and who am I to deny him that kind of fun? :)

More haircuts

Hayes wasn't the only one who got a haircut around here, Gator did too ( well and I did too,but it was at least a few weeks back). We took Gator to the groomer for the first time ever. I was worried about Gator because I have never really just dropped him off somewhere (besides the animal hospital, and that was as traumatic as it comes). It was funny because Gator was really scared at first and hid behind me and between my legs, but he got braver. Hayes on the other hand was pretty upset. He HATED that we had to leave Gator behind. He cried and cried for Gator.

Both our boys were very happy to see each other when we picked Gator back up. He was basically prancing because he knew he looked so good. I don't know why we have never done this before, he looks awesome and feels awesome. This will definitely will be something we take him to do more often. We love our Gator Boy, and we love a nice smelling, freshly groomed Gator boy even more!

Haircut time

HAYES GOT A HAIRCUT! He looks like a whole new boy. I can't believe how much a hair cut can make him look so much more grown up. I really love it and think he looks so handsome!

The perfect day

Some days, seriously become the perfect day. A day not that long ago Hayes and I woke up, ate breakfast, played, and then headed out for some walking. The weather was perfect, the grass was green, and we were happy. I seriously could not have dreamed up a more perfect day. A day with my Hayesie and Gator, exercising in the perfect weather and enjoying each other. We ran and played and chased each other. We ate a snack and got some sun. It was perfect.

House progress

We've been slowly working on updating our house. It's been a lot of work, but I am LOVING the progress we are making. We redid our floors and baseboards in all the main living areas of our house, and I painted the big living room. We still need to do some touch up paint and a few more finishing things, but we are pretty close to being done. I also got a cool vintage record player that I painted, and I LOVE IT!!! I have fallen in love with our house all over again, and I am so excited about that!
