Lately

I was telling a client the other day that life seems to be speeding up for me, I swear I look up and all of the sudden it's Friday again. I don't ever remember life going by this fast, and in fact, I remember working at my old office and feeling like the days and weeks just DRAGGED on forever. So, it must be me that's changed.

Life has been going pretty good here. We work and play and go to bed and wake up and do it all over again. It seems monotonous, but I really do enjoy my time home with Hayes. I have been debating more and more staying home full time and not working at all, but I remain on the fence. I know I appreciate my time at home, but part of me wonders if it's because I still work, and I don't want to not appreciate it. I want to soak in each day and to never take it for granted. I don't ever want to quit enjoying my days home, and part of me thinks that working has made that happen. I also worry about the financial side of things. I have gone back and forth so much that I can't decide what to do. I think their are pros and cons of both sides.

Sam has been working so hard lately. Summers really are so brutal for him. He's a trooper though and stays at it day after day. I'm glad he is such a hard worker, and I hope he can show and teach Hayes that great characteristic.

Hayes and I have started doing some school time in the mornings. He is doing really well with it and I like that I can see him learning things and helping him. He is learning to sit still and to do different tasks. I like teaching him, but I can also see the need for school. It scares me a bit that school isn't that far off for him. I seriously get teary eyed just thinking about him being in school all day. I hate the thought of sending him somewhere all day and not seeing him and him needing me less. It scares me and makes me so happy for him at the same time. Those conflicting emotions seem like the theme of parenting.

We have them coming to install our new solar panels next month. I'm excited about that. I think that's pretty much it.

Hayesie-isms

I've said it a hundred time before, and I'll say it again, this kid is hilarious! He has so many funny things about him and I love every single one of them!

Popsicles

I gave Hayes a Popsicle the other day and sent him outside to enjoy this messy treat. It melted everywhere and was the messiest thing ever, and Hayes loved every second of it. He also loved the clean up, I sprayed him down with a hose. Seriously, having a two year old in the summer is pretty dang fun. I feel like so many of our activities are the ideal summer activities. I feel like hanging with him and doing all these fun things is the perfect way to spend time. This is everything I dreamed about when I worked full time, and I do not take it for granted.

The wake park

For Father's Day Sam wanted Hayes and I to come spend some time with him out at the wake park, so on Saturday we headed out there. I was pretty anxious about it because I didn't know how Hayes would do, but it ended up being so much fun. Sam was thrilled we were there and Hayes had the time of his life. I even rode the cable too! I think we'll need to head out there again!

Riding

Hayes never gets sick of riding on Gator, but Hayes is getting so big that I don't know how much more riding Hayes will be able to do. This dog is so patient.

Sleepy Hayesie

After all of time spent playing outside Hayes has been exhausted. I couldn't help but snap a few pics of him sleeping. He is so sweet, and that little belly hanging out just melts me.

More pool time

We literally have spent nearly every day in this little pool, I definitely got my $10 worth. Gator refuses to get in it, but he still loves being out there with us and staying in the shade. He HATES when we spray him with the hose. Hayes however, loves it. This is what summer is all about.

Playing in Cedar

A couple of weeks ago we went to Cedar and played with my high school friends and their kids. It was fun to get away and to be in a little cooler place. Hayes loved all the kids and especially being able to play with older boys. I am glad I have such fun friends and that their kids are so sweet to Hayes. Friends really are so much fun.

Kanarraville Falls

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to hike Kanarraville Falls with the YW. It was such a fun experience and I'm glad I did it. I was really anxious about going because I am not a hiker, but it ended up being such a great thing and I really enjoyed it! It was SO beautiful!

A day in the life

Hayes has been a lot of fun lately. He is talking WAY more and is so quirky and silly. I know I've said this before, but there is no way that I could even begin to document all of the funny things he does. Even if I remembered and wrote everything down, it would even begin to come close to seeing it in person. I need to do so much better at videoing things, his voice and facials and quirks just need to be seen to truly appreciate.

Hayes is so much fun to be around, he has his moments, but his personality is so fantastic and magnetic. I can already tell he is going to have a lot of friends, you just can't help but want to spend time with him.

Some recent funny Hayesie-ism:

I was making cookies and Hayes was helping me. We let him have a few chocolate chips, and he was BEGGING for more! "PEAS! PEAS! MORE! MORE!" He yelled over and over. Finally, he started yelling "NEED IT! NEED!" and I asked him " Do you need some more chocolate?" and he screamed back, "YES!!" hahaha, he is my child, the end.

Every time I get him dressed when I put his shirt on he says "Where is he?" and then as soon as his head is through he says "There he is!" (I must say that to him a lot)

When we were at church last week (finally sitting inside Sacrament meeting) and for Father's day the primary children got up and sang. After they were done Hayes started yelling " WHOOO HOOO YAY!" he was cheering and clapping. Everyone around us was laughing so hard. I told Sydney about it and she said that was such a Ricky thing to do.

Donut party

When we went up to Salt Lake for Kate' baby shower, my mom and dad and Ash drove Hayes up to Salt Lake. It happened to be National Doughnut Day and Ash made sure they celebrated, and Hayes was probably the best partner for some doughnut celebrating. These pictures are the cutest thing in the whole world to me and I love that she captured them so well! My Hayesie boy sure loves doughnuts!

Garden hose summers

We finally got a little blow up pool to combat this crazy heat. Hayes's favorite part is filling the pool up and spraying water everywhere. He is so silly and funny and I love these summer days with him.
