Pre Birthday day of fun!

I decided to start a new fun tradition of trying to make Hayes's day before his birthday special too, just a different kind of special. A lot of times on your birthday you have a birthday party and family and friends around and it gets a little chaotic. The pre-birthday celebration is just him and me doing our favorite things together to celebrate his last day of being whatever age he is.

This year we picked all of his favorite "Two Year Old" things. So we went to the splash pad and made cookies and painted and played in the pool out back. We spent the day enjoy being 2 and doing what 2 year olds love before he turned three. It was a special day for the two of us and I think I might have loved it more than he did.

Miles for smiles 5k

My cousin invited us to come run a race in Cedar and since we had all been running we agreed. It was only a 5k but per usual we were all still a little nervous. Ash and I laughed when we realized we showed up in a very similar outfit. The race ended up being a lot of fun and was around the little lake in Cedar. It was fun to go and spend the morning with our family.

Salt Lake April, 2016

The first weekend in April we headed up to Salt Lake. We had a lot of things planned and we were excited to see our family. Hayesie loved playing with Cooper and all of his toys. We had fun time walking around Kati's neighborhood and getting treats and food at the food trucks.

On the first night we got there I went to the Justin Bieber Concert with Syd, Ali, and Brooke. It was so much fun.

The next day (Sunday), Sam and I had a chance to go to General Conference with his family. It was really so cool to go and to get to experience that in person. I felt like we went to such a great session and I loved getting to see all of the General Authorities in person. While we were at Conference Kati and Ash watched Hayes for us. They made his wildest dreams come true when the walked to the fire station and the fire fighters were inside and let him sit in the fire truck. He talked about it the whole drive home.

Easter 2016

Like many things we do, we celebrated Easter a few times and over the course of a few days. We dyed eggs together and Hayes learned the hard way that you have to gently drop the eggs into the dye or they'll break. We Easter egg hunted at my mom's house and Hayes absolutely loved it and then we went over to Grandma Sydney's and Hayes and Seb hunted for eggs again.

I just LOVE Easter!

Playing with Malley!

Our neighbor has a giant husky dog named Malley and Hayes thinks her dog house is the greatest thing ever. I was dying laughing when he hopped on in there with Malley.

The Spectrum 10k March, 2016

We ran the Spectrum 10k with a group of our family members and it was so much fun. Me, Mom, and Ash trained for it and the training took me back to marathon training days. It was so much fun.

I felt really good about my run and Sam of course killed it! Hayes was absolutely thrilled to play with our medals after the race.

Babies with babies

Ali knitted Hayes a really sweet "Human Bean" and he was SO excited. He gets pretty rough with him, but man oh man does he love this little bean.

Hayes, the photographer

Everytime I get my phone back from Hayes its full of pictures he's taken. Some of them are pretty artistic! There are also usually quite a few selfies, or partial selfies. hahaha.

Popsicle eating

I gave Hayes a Popsicle and died laughing when I discovered how he was eating it.

He is a character!

Ivins Res 02.2016

February was unseasonably warm for us and we took full advantage. We love to go out to Ivins Res and I'm pretty sure Gator thinks it's Heaven. We really do live in a beautiful area!

Nakey Hayesie strikes again

Lately, Hayes has loved to strip down and run around our house naked when we aren't looking. He has even managed to get out of onesie jammies. I can't help but laugh, but I'm always nervous I'm going to get more than I bargained for on my floor or couch if you know what I mean.

While we're on the topic of Hayes being funny, I've been trying to write down the funny things he says, and even still I know I forget a lot, but here's a few recently:

When Sam or I are laying down Hayes will come up and say "You weeping mom? You weeping?" then he says "Weet dreams Mom, weet dreams!" He will also say "Happy dreams mom!"

Hayes found a small calculator the other day and was SO excited. He thought it was a cell phone, however he did keep calling it his "cal calater" but he would talk on like a phone:
"Hi calcalator, I just watching the garbage truck get the trash, ok bye!"
"Hi calcalator, I just watching Super Why save the day, ok bye!"

Hayes can sing the whole theme song to Super Why and sings it randomly, and last night he whispered it while he was going to sleep. "Super Why power to read change the story and save the day, hip hip hooray! Super readers save the day!"

Hayes loves to tell me "Mom, I can't I working!"

Hayes is so polite and friendly and when he sees little kids out and about he says to them "Hi fwends! How you doing?!" It's SO much sweeter than the barking we use to do.

He loves to pretend he's a puppy and barks, and then laughs and says " I a silly puppy!"

One of my most favorite things still is when he says "Gator by crazy!" and he even sings it sometimes to himself. I seriously die laughing!

The other day he randomly said to me "Mom, it your birthday! Happy Birthday Mom! Whooo!" hahaha I have no idea where that came

He is so smart and has started lining up his foam letters for the bath by color.

His current obsessions are: his train set, his cars (specifically the fire truck and police car), jumping on the tramp, Super Why, Curious George, Ice Age, and Robin Hood, Painting, smashing pasta, his pack pack, and asking where dad is.

He is slowly understanding the difference between Grandma Lynne and Grandma Sydney. "I go Grammen Sydney's play basketball" "I go to Grammen Weens play dirt!" hahaha

Picnic time

This week the weather has been SO nice and we have tried to enjoy every last second of it. One day we decided to go have a picnic at the Little League fields. Gator and Hayes LOVED running around and playing in the dirt and on the grass. We spent a good portion of the afternoon soaking up all of Vitamin D we possible could. It was one of those days that's just good for your soul. Hayes, Gator, and I all left tired, happy, and so excited for many more days this spring that look just like this one. Man oh man how I love St. George in February.
